2009 Porsche Panamera

What was originally the 2009 Porsche Panamera will debut in calendar 2009 as a 2010 model. Panamera is the newest addition to the German automaker’s lineup. This premium large car is a four-passenger, 4-door hatchback. Unlike Porsche’s 911, Boxster, and Cayman cars, Panamera has a front-mounted engine. Rear-wheel-drive S and all-wheel-drive 4S and Turbo models are offered.

All use a 4.8-liter V8 engine and a 7-speed automatic transmission. S and 4S have 400 hp, and the Turbo has 500 hp. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. All models have an engine stop/start feature that shuts off the gas engine when the car is stopped and restarts it when the brake pedal is released.

An adaptive air suspension is standard on the Turbo and optional on the S and 4S. Porsche’s Sport Chrono Package includes a button that adjusts powertrain and suspension tuning to suit high-performance driving. 2010 Porsche Panamera report for more information, prices, and a full review.

2009 Porsche Cayenne

The 2009 Porsche Cayenne receives a new performance-oriented model, the Turbo S. Cayenne is Porsche’s SUV and shares its basic design with the Volkswagen Touareg. Cayenne differs in styling and powertrains. Base, S, GTS, Turbo, and new-for-2009 Turbo S models are available. Base Cayennes have a 290-hp 3.6-liter V6 engine. S, GTS, Turbo, and Turbo S versions have 4.8-liter V8 engines of 385, 405, 500, and 550 hp, respectively.

V6 and GTS come with a 6-speed manual transmission or optional 6-speed automatic; S, Turbo, and Turbo S are automatic only. Maximum towing capacity is 7716 lb. All Cayennes have all-wheel drive with low-range gearing and locking center differential. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, an antiskid system with rollover sensors, front side airbags, and curtain side airbags

A “Sport Button” that alters engine, transmission, and suspension settings for high-performance driving is standard. A navigation system is available. The GTS, which is designed for on-road performance, adds 21-inch wheels and a lowered sport suspension. The Turbo has 19-inch wheels and a load-leveling version of Porsche’s Active Suspension Management, which allows the suspension to be adjusted for either sport or comfort. The Turbo S has 21-inch wheels.

Porsche Carrera GT

The Porsche Carrera GT is a supercar, manufactured by Porsche of Germany. The Carrera GT is powered by an all-new 5.7 litre V10 engine producing 612 SAE horsepower (450 kW). Porsche claims it will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62.5 mph) in 3.9 seconds and has a maximum speed of 330 km/h (206 mph).

Although road tests indicated that in actuality the car could accelerate from 0-60 in under 3.5 seconds and to 0-100 in 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 335-340km/h (209-212.5mph).30-40 bhp power increase. Exhaust system with 4 tailpipes in special alloy design.

Porsche tuner Gemballa revealed their line of accessories for the Porsche Carrera GT. The package is named Mirage GT and includes everything a Carrera GT owner, who would like to make his or her car unique, could wish for.

2009 Porsche Cayman

Porsche is presenting the second generation of the mid-engined Cayman sports coupe at the Los Angeles Motor Show (November 21 – 30)… It is providing not only more power, but also significantly greater fuel efficiency. A further improvement of both fuel economy and performance is guaranteed by the Porsche Doppel kupplungsgetriebe (PDK), the new double-clutch gearbox now available as an option on both the Cayman and Cayman S.

An outstanding power-to-weight ratio of 4.2kg/bhp on the Cayman S in particular ensures optimum driving dynamics. For example, the Cayman S with PDK and Launch Control (featured in the optional Sports Chrono Package Plus) accelerates from 0-62mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.9 seconds, setting the benchmark in the range.

The seven-speed PDK shifts gears up to 60 per cent faster than a conventional automatic transmission, and naturally, gives the new Cayman models even better performance. And those in search of optimum driving dynamics have the option to combine PDK with Sport Chrono Package Plus, now featuring Launch Control. The option of PDK costs £1,961.

The next generation Porsche Cayman goes on sale in the UK and Ireland from February 21 2009. The Cayman is priced from £36,870 and the Cayman S priced from £45,050. Customers will also be able to explore the dynamic attributes of their car, and develop their own skills behind the wheel, courtesy of a Driving Experience Programme at the new Porsche Driving Experience Centre at Silverstone.

2009 Porsche 911

Two-wheel-drive versions of the 2009 Carrera will be the first 911s to get a new dual-clutch automatic, more power, and LED running lights, all of which will help strengthen the car’s position in the face of stiff competition from the likes of the Audi R8, Nissan GT-R, Chevrolet Corvette, and others.

Porsche calls its optional seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox “PDK,” short for Porsche-Doppelkupplung. Although other carmakers have offered dual-clutch transmissions for quite some time, Porsche makes sure to point out its leadership in this concept: “Porsche developed this gearshift principle for racing no less than 25 years ago,” states the press release.” It features two parallel clutches to eliminate any interruption in power delivery and eliminates even the slightest break between gears.”

According to Porsche, the PDK-equipped Carrera S coupe is 0.2 second quicker in the sprint from 0 to 60 mph, which takes a scant 4.3 seconds. Furthermore, a Carrera S with optional launch control (part of the Sport Chrono Plus package) can accelerate an additional 0.2 second quicker, reaching the mark in a hair-mussing 4.1 seconds. Garden-variety 2009 Carrera models will reach 60 mph only 0.2 second behind their S-badged counterparts. The Tiptronic automatic option goes bye-bye, since comparable PDK-equipped cars improve upon Tiptronic 0-to-60-mph times by a whopping 0.7 second.

The transmission isn’t the only thing boosting the updated 911’s performance. Direct fuel injection, a first in the 911 range, helps bump horsepower to 345 hp for the base 3.6-liter flat six (20 hp more than before) and 385 hp for the S’s 3.8-liter boxer (a 30-hp increase). The new Carrera S, Porsche says, will now top out at 188 mph, six hard-earned mph faster than before.

All use a front-mounted 4.8-liter V8 engine and a 7-speed double clutch automatic transmission. S and 4S have 400 horsepower, while the Turbo has 500 horsepower.

Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, front and rear side airbags, and front knee airbags. All models have an engine stop and start feature that shuts off the engine when the car is stopped and restarts it when the brake pedal is released. An adaptive air suspension is standard on the Turbo and optional on the S and 4S.
