2010 Nissan Xterra

The 2010 Nissan Xterra is largely unchanged. This off-road-themed midsize SUV is smaller and less costly than Nissan’s Pathfinder. Xterra seats 5 versus Pathfinder’s 7. X, S, Off-Road, and SE trim levels are offered. All have a 261-horsepower 4.0-liter V6 engine. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard on X and Off-Road. A 5-speed automatic is optional on those models and standard on S and SE.

Maximum towing capacity is 5,000 pounds. X, S, and SE offer rear-wheel drive or part-time 4-wheel drive that should not be left engaged on dry pavement. The 4WD system includes a low-range gear for off-roading. Off-Road models are 4WD only. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, and front-side airbags.

Off-Road models have all-terrain tires, skid plates, locking rear differential, and, with automatic transmission, hill ascent and descent control. A navigation system is standard on the Off-Road and SE. A wireless cell-phone link and leather upholstery are SE-exclusive standard features.

2010 Nissan Versa

The 2010 Nissan Versa is available with additional safety features and slightly freshened exterior styling. Versa comes as a 4-door sedan or 4-door hatchback. These compact cars slot beneath Nissan’s Sentra in size and price. Entry-level 1.6 Base and 1.6, mid-level S, and top-line SL trim levels return. All 1.6 versions are a sedan only and have a 107-horsepower 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine. S and SL return as sedans or hatchbacks and use a 122-horsepower 1.8-liter 4-cylinder.

All 1.6 versions have a 5-speed manual transmission. A 6-speed manual transmission is available on the S. A 4-speed automatic is available on the 1.6 and S and standard on the SL sedan. The SL hatchback has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT) that behaves much like an automatic. Available safety features include ABS, front-side airbags, and curtain-side airbags. Traction control and an antiskid system are newly standard on the SL and optional on the S.

Other available features include cruise control, a navigation system, remote entry, and power locks and windows. A wireless cell-phone link, keyless access and engine start, remote engine start, and a sunroof are optional on the SL.

2010 Nissan Titan

The 2010 Nissan Titan gets curtain-side airbags and an antiskid system as standard equipment. Titan comes in two body styles, the extended King Cab and 4-door Crew Cab. Kings have rear-opening back doors that don’t open independently of the fronts, but swing out flat against the body sides. Cargo beds of 5.5, 6.5, and 7 feet are available depending on cab choice.

The 8-foot bed has been discontinued. Trim levels include XE, SE, LE, and off-road-themed PRO-4X. The sole powertrain teams a 317-horsepower 5.6-liter V8 engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission. In certain states, the engine is capable of running on E85 ethanol-blended fuel. Maximum towing capacity is 9,400 pounds with the Crew Cab and 9,500 pounds with the King Cab. XE, SE, and LE models are available with rear-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. PRO-4X models are 4WD only.

The 4WD system should not be left engaged on dry pavement, but it includes a low-range gear for off-road use. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, and front-side airbags. Standard seating is for 6 with front and rear benches. Available front bucket seats reduce seating to 5. Also available are power-adjustable pedals, a fold-flat front passenger seat, and DVD entertainment.

2010 Nissan Sentra

The 2010 Nissan Sentra gets slightly freshened styling and new option packages. This compact car offers six models: Base 2.0, uplevel 2.0 S, new-for-2010 2.0 SR, top-line 2.0 SL, sporty SE-R, and performance SE-R Spec V. All 2.0 versions have a 140-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and 6-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that behaves much like an automatic.

The SE-R has a 177-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and a CVT. SE-R Spec V also has a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder but with 200 horsepower and a 6-speed manual. SE-R and Spec V have 4-wheel disc brakes, sport suspension, and specific exterior and interior styling cues. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front-side airbags, and curtain-side airbags.

On all models except the SE-R and SE-R Spec V, the rear seat cushion can be flipped forward, allowing the split rear seat back to fold flat with the trunk floor. Leather upholstery is optional on the 2.0 SL. A wireless cell-phone link is standard on the SL and available on the SR, SE-R, and SE-R Spec V. A navigation system is optional on the SL, SE-R, and SE-R Spec V. A rearview camera is available on SL models equipped with navigation.

2010 Nissan Rogue

The 2010 Nissan Rogue lineup gains a new sporty trim level. This compact SUV from the Japanese automaker is based on Nissan’s Sentra compact sedan and is a 4-door wagon with seating for 5. S and SL models are joined for 2010 by the sporty Krom. All are available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive without low-range gearing.

The sole powertrain is a 170-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that behaves much like an automatic. The SL’s steering-wheel paddles have been discontinued. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front-side airbags, and curtain-side airbags.

The Krom has specific body cladding, wheels, and a sport exhaust system. Optional equipment on the SL includes leather upholstery, heated front seats, sunroof, wireless cell-phone link, keyless access and engine start, and xenon headlights.

2010 Nissan Pathfinder

The 2010 Nissan Pathfinder is largely unchanged. This 7-passenger midsize SUV comes in S FE+, S, SE, and luxury-oriented LE trims. The SE Off Road has been discontinued. All have a 266-horsepower 4.0-liter V6 engine. Also offered is the LE V8 with a 310-horsepower 5.6-liter V8 engine. The only transmission is a 5-speed automatic. Maximum towing capacity is 6,000 pounds with the V6, 7,000 pounds with the V8.

The S FE+ is rear-wheel drive and has powertrain tweaks designed to increase fuel economy. SE and LE V6 offer both rear drive or 4-wheel drive. The S and LE V8 are 4WD only. LE models have Nissan’s All-Mode 4WD system that can be left engaged on dry pavement. The 4WD on the S and SE should not be left engaged on dry pavement. Both 4WD systems include a low-range gear for off-road use.

Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags that cover all seating rows, and front-side airbags. Pathfinders have a 50/50 split-folding 3rd-row seat. Leather upholstery is standard on LE. A navigation system is standard on the LE V8 and optional on the LE V6.

2010 Nissan Murano

The 2010 Nissan Murano is largely unchanged following its redesign for the 2009 model year. This midsize SUV seats 5 and is based on Nissan’s “D” platform, which is shared with the midsize Altima sedan. Models are S, SL, and LE. All use a 265-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that behaves much like an automatic. Maximum towing capacity is 3,500 pounds.

All offer front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The front-drive LE is new for 2010. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front-side airbags, and curtain-side airbags. Heated front and rear seats are available, as are a navigation system and DVD entertainment. Keyless access and engine start are standard on all.

Standard on LE and optional on SL are leather upholstery, a rearview camera, and heated front and rear seats. A voice-activated navigation system with real-time traffic information and hard drive for storing digital-music files are optional on SL and LE.
