2010 Ford Ranger
The 2010 Ford Ranger lineup shrinks, but this compact pickup gains some new safety features, including an antiskid system and side airbags. Ranger offers regular cab and extended SuperCab body styles and three trim levels: XL, XLT, and Sport. The off-road-oriented FX4 has been discontinued. SuperCabs have two rear fold-down jump seats and back-hinged rear access doors.
All have a 6-foot cargo bed; a 7-foot bed is available to fleet buyers only. Two engines are offered: a 143-horsepower 2.3-liter 4-cylinder or a 207-horsepower 4.0-liter V6. Both are available with manual or automatic transmission. Maximum towing capacity is 5,980 pounds. Rear-wheel drive is standard. XLT and Sport SuperCab models are available with part-time four-wheel drive that includes a low-range gear for off-roading, but should not be left engaged on dry pavement.
Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and front-side airbags that provide head and torso protection. Traction control, an antiskid system, and side airbags are newly standard for 2010. A Class III trailer hitch is standard on all models.
2010 Ford Mustang
The 2010 Ford Mustang is revamped with new styling, an upgraded interior, and more V8 power. These sporty/performance coupes and convertibles are available with V6 and V8 engines. Base versions have a 210-horsepower 4.0-liter V6. GTs have a 315-horsepower 4.6-liter V8, up 15 from ’09. Both V6 and GT models are available in base or Premium trims. All are available with manual or automatic transmission. Also returning is the high-performance Shelby GT500.
It has a 540-horsepower supercharged 5.4-liter V8 and mandatory 6-speed manual transmission. The GT500 is offered as a coupe or convertible. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, new-for-2010 antiskid system, and front-side airbags. Newly standard is a capless fuel filler. Other new-for-2010 available features include ambient interior lighting and a rearview camera.
Ford’s Sync, which offers voice control for cell phones and MP3 players, is also available. The available navigation system now includes real-time traffic updates. A fixed glass roof panel is a stand-alone option. Newly optional for manual-transmission GT Premium coupes is a “Trackpack”, which includes a limited-slip differential, uprated brakes, sport suspension, 19-inch wheels, and a special antiskid system.
2010 Ford Focus
The 2010 Ford Focus lineup gains some newly standard safety features but is otherwise largely unchanged. Focus comes as a 4-door sedan in S, SE, SES, and SEL trim levels. A 2-door coupe is available as the SE and SES. The only engine is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that produces 140 horsepower in sedans and 143 horsepower in coupes. Both body styles offer a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.
Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, and front-side airbags. Previously optional, the ABS, traction control, and antiskid system are now standard on all 2010 Focus models. Also available is Ford’s Sync. Sync provides voice control of certain cell phone and MP3 player functions. Sync is standard on SES and SEL and available on SE. Other available features include leather upholstery, heated front seats, and remote engine start.
Trend trim level and adds 16-inch alloy wheels (17-inch alloy wheels for the convertible version), a Visibility Pack (rain sensor, automatic switching dipped headlights and auto dimming interior mirror), cruise control, rear parking sensors, an electrically heated windshield, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a windbreaker. The cabrio version also gets an advanced navigation system with 5-inch color screen, the Ford Power start button, a tire pressure monitoring system, a wind breaker, an electrically heated windscreen, Bluetooth phone, parking sensors, and Voice Control (voice control of the audio system, air conditioning, phone and the navigation system). The coupe version is powered by a 1.6 16v engine with 100 HP, while the cabrio version gets a 2.0 16v with 145 HP.
2010 Ford Flex
The 2010 Ford Flex lineup gains a telescoping function for its steering wheel and a new engine with more available power. Introduced for the 2009 model year, this boxy 4-door wagon shares some of its basic design with Ford’s Edge crossover SUV. Flex comes in three trim levels: base SE, mid-level SEL, and top-line Limited. All offer front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available on the SEL and Limited. Flex is distinguished by its squared-off shape and contrasting roof and body colors.
Flex seats either 6 or 7 on three rows of seats. A 262-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine is standard on all Flex models. The AWD SEL and Limited are available with a 355-horsepower turbocharged 3.5-liter V6. Versions so equipped are called “EcoBoost” and are priced as separate models. EcoBoost-equipped Flex models also include several specific features including steering-wheel shift paddles and a grade assist function for the transmission, electric power steering with “Pull-Drift Compensation,” and a self-parking feature. Both engines pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Maximum towing capacity is 4,500 pounds, and when equipped with the optional tow package, a trailer sway control system is included. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front-side airbags, and curtain-side airbags. A rearview camera, power liftgate, voice-activated navigation system with real-time traffic and weather updates, four-panel glass roof, and refrigerated center console are available. Other available features include Ford’s Sync voice-activated control for some cell phones and MP3 players and a capless fuel filler.
2010 Ford F-150
The 2010 Ford F-150 lineup expands to include a revamped Harley-Davidson model, as well as an off-road-oriented version called the Raptor. The 2010 F-150′s base powertrain remains a 248-horsepower 4.6-liter V8 engine that teams with a 4-speed automatic transmission. A 292-horsepower version of the 4.6 and a 310-horsepower 5.4-liter V8 are also offered, both matched with a 6-speed automatic. The 5.4-liter V8 is capable of running on E85 ethanol-blended fuel and produces 320 horsepower when using it. Available on the Raptor is a new 411-horsepower 6.2-liter V8. Maximum towing capacity is 11,300 lb.
Rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive that cannot be left engaged on dry pavement but includes low-range gearing for off-road use are still offered on most models. The F-150 Harley-Davidson is available with all-wheel drive with low-range gearing. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, and front-side airbags.
Three cab styles are offered on most models: Regular cab; SuperCab extended cab with rear-hinged back doors that don’t open independently of the fronts; and SuperCrew crew cab, which has 4 conventional doors. Available bed lengths include 5.5, 6.5 and 8 feet. The 6.5-foot Flareside bed has been discontinued on all except the Raptor. The Harley-Davidson is a SuperCrew that has unique interior and exterior trim and a sport suspension. The Raptor has specific trim and an off-road suspension. Other F-150 models include base XL, sporty STX, off-road-oriented FX4, volume XLT, special-edition Harley-Davidson, uplevel King Ranch and Lariat, and line-topping Platinum.
Available on most F-150 models are features such as a hideaway side step for access to the pickup bed, a tailgate step, a retractable cable lock to secure items in the bed, and a capless fuel filler. Electronic devices include Ford’s Sync voice-activated cell phone and MP3 player control system, a voice-activated navigation system that includes real-time traffic information, a rearview camera, a built-in dashboard computer with available printer, a tool inventory system, and a vehicle tracking device for fleet users.
2010 Ford Expedition
The 2010 Ford Expedition is largely unchanged. This is Ford’s largest SUV, and it is available as a regular-length wagon and as the Expedition EL, which is 12 inches longer in wheelbase and about 15 inches longer overall. Both versions seat up to 8. The sole powertrain for all models is a 310-horsepower 5.4-liter V8 engine paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Expedition can run on E85 ethanol-blended fuel.
Maximum towing capacity is 9,200 pounds on standard-length models and 8,900 pounds on the EL. Rear-wheel drive is standard. Also offered is full-time four-wheel drive that can be left engaged on dry pavement and includes a low-range gear for off-roading. XLT, Eddie Bauer, King Ranch, and Limited trim levels are offered. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front-side airbags, and curtain-side airbags.
Ford’s Sync, which is a voice-activated interface for cell phones and digital music players, is optional on the XLT and standard otherwise. A navigation system with real-time traffic, weather, and entertainment information is also available. Heated 2nd-row seats and heated and cooled front seats are standard on the Limited and King Ranch. A power-folding 3rd-row seat is optional on the XLT and standard otherwise. Note that the Lincoln Navigator is a luxury version of Expedition with different styling, features, and pricing.
2010 Ford Edge
The 2010 Ford Edge lineup sees no major changes pending a major freshening due in calendar 2010 as a 2011 model. This 5-passenger crossover SUV is available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. SE, SEL, Limited, and Sport trim levels are offered. All have a 265-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Sport versions have standard 20-inch wheels or available 22-inch wheels, unique body panels, specific seats, and unique interior trim. Maximum towing capacity is 3,500 pounds. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front-side airbags, and curtain-side airbags.
Other available features include a power tailgate, power-folding rear seat backs, 20-inch wheels, and a panoramic sunroof. Ford’s Sync, a software system that offers voice-activated control of cell phones and digital music players, is standard on Limited and Sport and optional on SE and SEL. Note that Lincoln sells a luxury-trimmed version of the Edge called the MKX.
