2010 Pontiac Torrent

The 2010 Pontiac Torrent has been discontinued, and it will be replaced by the 2010 GMC Terrain. Examples of 2009 Torrent models may be available on dealer lots. Check out Consumer Guide’s review of the 2009 Pontiac Torrent for prices, ratings, specifications, and photos.

The 2010 Pontiac Torrent offers terrific fuel economy – 22 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highways thanks to five-speed automatic transmission system.

2009 Pontiac Solstice

The 2009 Pontiac Solstice coupe is a new addition to this sporty car’s lineup. Solstice is a rear-wheel drive, two-passenger 2-door that lends its basic design to the Saturn Sky. Solstice comes as a convertible with a manual-folding soft top and heated glass rear window. Due later in the model year is a hardtop coupe with removable roof panel. Both body styles come in Base and high-performance GXP trims.

Base versions have a 173-hp 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine. GXPs have a turbocharged 260-hp 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. Both are available with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. A midyear addition to the Solstice lineup is the Street Edition. It has the Base engine but adds leather upholstery, sport suspension, and polished alloy wheels.

Available safety features include ABS, traction control, and an antiskid system. Side airbags are not offered. A wireless cell phone link is newly available. Note that General Motors is phasing out the Pontiac brand, a process scheduled for completion by the end of calendar 2010.

2010 Pontiac Solstice

The Solstice Coupe is the new targa-top variant of Pontiac’s latest buffed stable inmate. Taking place in the successful range of performance cars the Solstice Targa Top Coupe will pique your interest with its strengthened roof structure which also gives the coupé a sleek fastback-style roof-line which attempts to differentiate from its top-selling roadster root. This limited vehicle is powered by either a standard 173 horsepower 2.4L Ecotec four-cylinder engine or with a 2.0L turbocharged 260 horsepower engine for the GXP coupé.

Mechanically the Coupe and Roadster forms of the 2010 Pontiac Solstice are identical and are unlikely to see any further changes. Pontiac will likely ride these little Roadsters out for a while before something new and maybe exciting is designed to replace it. Since being allocated from the GM adult table over to the kiddy table it seems unlikely that Pontiac will be bringing much more “excitement” to the family banquet than they already have.

If you have been itching for a brand new roadster on a budget and would like to feel the wind in your hair without the fear of your hat or toupee launching into space then the 2010 Pontiac Solstice Coupe might be just the ticket. With the Solstice Coupe and its Targa top you have the enjoyment of the elements while still having a bit of coupe to catch your wind-blown possessions. The coupe also provides owners the added advantage of a foot or two of more cargo space. Weekend getaways involving luggage is not what the Solstice was built for.

Much as BMW has done by offering their Z4 in both Coupe and Roadster form (that’s right! Who is the gutsy man to compare a BMW to a Pontiac? Mu-ha-ha-ha!), Pontiac looks to expand the marketability of their roadster by bringing it out in Coupe form. However, the Pontiac completes the package with the potential for wind shear from time to time and that might just make all the difference. …Or at least enough to sell a few more Solstice’s.

2009 Pontiac Grand Prix

The 2009 Pontiac Grand Prix is a coupe or sedan available in two models, entry level and GXP. The entry level model comes with a 3.8 Liter V6 engine that is rated at 200 horsepower and 230 pound feet of torque. The GXP model is powered by a 5.3 Liter V8 engine that is rated at 303 horsepower and 323 pound feet of torque.

This new Pontiac cars are a 4-door, 5-passenger family sedan, or sports sedan and have a front wheel drive and are equipped with a four speed automatic transmission.

This new Pontiac cars have been known as a fine mover, a good stopper, a fair looker and a reasonable handler. The look is much more restrained than the previous model, although it does lose the aggressive front view with its visually taller, more Bonneville-like front end.
